Situated in South West London’s zone two, Battersea enjoys close proximity to central London via the UK’s busiest railway interchange, Clapham Junction. The immediate residential area has an enticing array of cafes, bars and shops frequented by the young professionals and families who’ve moved there, thanks to its mix of green spaces, local amenities and closeness to areas such as Kensington and Chelsea.
But while elements such as these make Battersea a desirable location to live, its lack of tube station has meant it has largely gone under the radar as an attractive space for office-based businesses. Until now, that is.
Ongoing development projects within Battersea, including the redevelopment of Nine Elms to the northeast (which will have its own tube station by 2020) and to the iconic Battersea Power Station, are set to turn the district into one of South West London’s major commercial hubs.
Apple’s pre-let of 500,000 square foot at Battersea Power Station was the largest office letting in London’s West End and Southbank for the last 20 years.

Battersea – and Nine Elms specifically – has become home to several large American brands: Apple has planned to take 500,000 square feet of space in Battersea Power Station, consolidating their London HQ in offices over all six floors of the iconic plant. The US embassy, meanwhile, officially opened its 518,000 square-foot offices at 33 Nine Elms Lane, in January 2018.

Looking for somewhere to kick back and relax after a long day in the office? Look no further than The Magic Garden, a lively pub on Battersea Park Road. Its exterior might look pretty ordinary, but don’t be fooled; inside awaits a surprisingly large garden complete with comfy sofas, generous food and drink offerings and regular live music.
For last-minute gifts for colleagues, head to London’s (possibly) longest garden centre at Battersea Flower Station. A winding path guides visitors through various sections of colourful blooms, quirky signs and exotic greenery in an environment so enchanting your work stresses will melt away almost instantly.
And for those who are finding the daily grind getting a bit too much, try heading over to the Battersea Peace Pagoda, on the upper perimeter of Battersea Park. Gifted by the Venerable Nichidatsu Fuji, who founded the Japanese Buddhist movement (and who was a real-life friend of Mahatma Gandhi), the sacred pagoda tells a story of the Buddha’s life, with gilt-bronze statues enacting the god’s life, from birth to death. The perfect place to find some inner zen – if only on your lunch break.
